Let’s face it, moms work hard. Very few moms are recognized for the amazing feat of being a mom. That’s why it’s important for moms to take the time and treat themselves to a relaxing day. Having a day to oneself is a way to recharge your batteries and thereby become a better mom. Everyone needs a break, including moms. So, be fair to yourself and provide yourself with the much needed mental, physical and emotional rest and relaxation.
Schedule a Day for You
Plan a low-key day at the spa that is least likely to have any problems. You may choose the weekend. Aside from the spa, you may also want to do fun things to recharge yourself, such as reading a book or taking a yoga class. Arrange the day with your spouse and see if he’s willing to shoulder any responsibilities while you’re gone.
Plan Where Your Kids Go
You may leave the kids with your spouse. You may also find a babysitter or available family member to watch the kids. Be sure to plan ahead, so that you can feel safe and secure knowing your kids are in good hands.
Accept this Day as Your Own
You may feel guilty not spending time with your kids, but that’s a common feeling. Mothers give so much to their children that it can be difficult to give something to yourself for once. Release the guilt and live in the "now." Spend time alone reflecting on yourself and providing the much needed time spent purely on you.
Plan to Check Up on Your Family
If you are worried about your kids, appease your mind by calling them once or twice during the day. Be rational and know that as long as you took the time and prepared, chances are your children are in safe hands.
